This game is hard, not because the combat is hard nor because the platforming is bad, but because is a Metroidvania where you must read and remember every single bit of information to solve its puzzles. If you are interested, keep reading, if not don´t worry, maybe this game wasn´t your cup of tea anyways. La-Mulana is a Metroidvania that rewards you if you have an eye on every single corner that could hide a clue. In the ruins of La-Mulana you will find visual and written info that expose the solution of pretty much every puzzle, but always explained in riddles that may not be so obvious the first time you found them, if you manage to connect the dots, your path will be opened to new areas, puzzles, and most probably rewards. The aesthetic department is heavily inspired by 2d games of the 5th generation, with cartoony sprites and well polished backgrounds. I could describe the OST as heroic, it invites you to be an adventurer that reveal secrets hidden ages ago (Also you can download it as an included goodie, 224 minutes of pure musical joy). The Metroidvania features are strong in this game. There are dozens of upgrades to improve your character and, because there are hundreds of puzzles the items are a fundamental keys to resolve them. Many are hidden only for the most curious of the players. The game is pretty long and with more than a dozen of different areas, each one with its own music, enemies, style, and bosses, you can explore them or fight its bosses in many different ways if you have the knowledge and the tools to do it, making each run a bit different every time. I would talk more about the game, but even after almost 6 years since the first time I played this game I still haven´t managed to complete the game, I COULD use a guide and finish it, but that would kill my favorite aspect of this masterpiece. In conclusion, play this game only if you want a good challenge. PD: DON'T READ AGAIN "THAT" TABLET OF THE MAUSOLEUM OF GIANTS IN YOUR FIRST RUN!
